About This Spot

El Tapatio #2 sits comfortably along Sam Houston Avenue in Huntsville, feeling like a cherished neighborhood gem where warmth and simplicity welcome you the moment you step inside. The pace is unhurried yet attentive, offering a setting where you can easily settle in for a quick lunch or linger over a morning meal. The atmosphere is vibrant without being loud, filled with the everyday rhythms of friendly chatter and the steady hum of shared stories.

Here, the heart of the experience lies in time-honored Mexican flavors that feel both nourishing and familiar. Whether you arrive early for a plate of huevos rancheros paired with fresh coffee or drop in later for savory street tacos and fresh guacamole, there’s a comforting authenticity in every bite. The food arrives with approachable generosity, seasoned thoughtfully and served with a side of genuine hospitality that makes you feel seen in the busy flow of daily life.

What stands out beyond the food is the care woven into the service — servers move with a quiet sense of urgency but never rush you, always checking in just often enough to make you feel attended to, not hurried. This balance fosters a relaxed but lively dining space, where locals and travelers alike share brief moments over chips, salsa, and queso, or a refreshing beverage like melon fresca.

If you’re passing through or calling Huntsville home, El Tapatio #2 offers a straightforward yet deeply satisfying way to connect through food. It’s a place defined by routine kindness and familiar flavors, where small details—a fresh pot of tea, a crisp tortilla chip, a friendly greeting—invite you to pause and feel at ease.

I enjoyed the hospitality, chips salsa and queso. Tea is fresh and enchiladas were delicious. Thank you for a quick lunch.

In Huntsville today and came into El Tapatio! Food was great, service was excellent and the restaurant was clean as usual. Some items prices have been adjusted as most other restaurants but I find them to still have extraordinary value for the quality of food and what you get. The warm salsa was accompanied by chilled green sauce and a side of queso. I had Melon Fresca and the picadillo beef enchilada with the crispiest flauta I've ever had. I can tell you as far as I can see they are working hard and doi a great job!

Food was delicious and service was great. Chris was excellent, he showed exceptional customer service and a decent sense of urgency, (which most of us when we're dining out prefer that you have a sense of urgency when dealing with us we don't want to wait forever for a drink or for our food).... Everything really was delicious! Check please! We will return for more!

I had the huevous rancheros, small question. The food was excellent. It was seasoned just right and was a very decent sized portion. The coffee was fresh and wonderful. My bill was just over 7 bucks!! The ladies working we're attentive and friendly. I dont get to Huntsville often but when I do I will always stop in there.

Quick stop in Huntsville traveling to Fort Worth on a Monday morning. Not busy at about 8:00 AM. Waitress was super sweet. Checked on us frequently. Food was delicious. Plenty of parking and easy to find off HWY 45.
